Bilateral Political Consultations with the Swiss Confederation

31. Oct 2025.
Bilateral political consultations between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia and the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs of the Swiss Confederation were held in Bern.

The Swiss delegation was headed by Ambassador Pierre-Yves Fux, Head of the Eurasia Division, while the delegation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia was led by Ambassador Tamara Rastovac Siamashvili, Assistant Minister for Bilateral Cooperation, and included Deputy Assistant Minister for Multilateral Cooperation Ksenija Milenković and Head of the Department for Europe Milena Mitić.

Both sides reaffirmed the importance of holding annual bilateral political consultations as a platform for exchanging views on issues of mutual interest at both the bilateral and multilateral levels.

During the consultations, the Serbian side provided a detailed briefing on the extremely difficult situation and the violation of human rights faced by the Serbian community in Kosovo and Metohija, emphasizing the need for an international response to prevent Pristina’s unilateral actions. The discussions also covered all forms of cooperation, including parliamentary diplomacy, economic relations, science, and innovation.

The importance of holding the 12th session of the Joint Committee in Belgrade on 12 November 2025 was highlighted. Gratitude was also expressed to the Swiss side for its decision to participate in the Specialized Expo 2027 exhibition in Belgrade.

The consultations further included discussions on cooperation between the two countries within international organizations — in particular, the Council of Europe and the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) — especially in the context of Switzerland’s upcoming Chairmanship of the OSCE next year.
