Kozarev confers with the new Ambassador of Lebanon

28. Oct 2025.
The Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia, Dušan Kozarev, met today with the newly appointed Ambassador of the Lebanese Republic to Serbia, Youssef Jabre.

Recognizing the traditional friendship and good relations between the two countries, both sides agreed on the need to jointly work on strengthening cooperation across various fields, particularly in the economic sphere.

In this context, discussions focused on trade cooperation, investment opportunities, and the potential for closer ties between chambers of commerce, which— as emphasized — would facilitate more efficient connections between business communities.

The interlocutors also discussed possibilities for enhanced cooperation in the fields of defense, healthcare, sports, and tourism.

Ambassador Jabre reaffirmed Lebanon’s firm support for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Serbia, while Secretary General Kozarev provided an update on the current situation in Kosovo and Metohija. He also noted that Serbia contributes to the UNIFIL mission in Lebanon through the engagement of members of the Serbian Armed Forces. In this regard, both sides agreed to explore opportunities for strengthening ties in the area of defense cooperation.

The meeting also highlighted the importance of maintaining bilateral political consultations, which, as both sides underlined, represent an important mechanism contributing to the overall quality of relations between the two countries.

The interlocutors reviewed Serbia’s recent economic achievements, reaffirming the country’s commitment to regional cooperation and emphasizing that economic connectivity remains one of Serbia’s strategic priorities.

Ambassador Jabre conveyed that Lebanon will participate in the Specialized Expo 2027 in Belgrade, expressing great satisfaction with this decision and reaffirming his readiness to further strengthen and expand cooperation between Lebanon and Serbia during his mandate.
