Đurić: The Solution Defined within the Brussels–Belgrade–Pristina Triangle Averted the Worst Possible Scenario for Serbs

16. Mar 2026.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Marko Đurić, stated that the solution defined within the Brussels–Belgrade–Pristina triangle has averted the worst possible scenario for Serbs and for all those who live and work in the territory of Kosovo and Metohija, emphasizing that the interests of our people have been protected under very difficult circumstances.

“I welcome this agreement and congratulate the Serbian negotiators on their efforts and on the result achieved. Care for our people remains the primary priority of the policy of the President and the Government of Serbia. I also welcome the engagement of representatives of the European Union, the United States, and the broader international community in addressing the problems that arose from the unilateral and uncoordinated actions of Kurti’s authorities,” Đurić stated.

According to him, the implementation of other agreements reached within the dialogue, and in particular the implementation of the signed and ratified agreement on the establishment of the Association of Serb-majority Municipalities, is not only a right of the Serbian people but also a necessary step to ensure that interethnic and institutional relations in Kosovo and Metohija in the future become more stable and less dependent on anyone’s arbitrariness.

“I also condemn the politicized criticisms of the solutions reached coming from certain political circles in Serbia. I am surprised that they still fail to understand that Kosovo and Metohija is not and should not be a topic for gaining political points, but rather a matter for national unity. At the same time, I express disagreement with certain foreign politicians and bureaucrats who are lobbying for Kurti’s government to be rewarded in any way for resolving problems that it itself created and has been persistently creating for the past four years,” Đurić concluded.
