Đurić Opens the Celebration of the Month of Francophonie in Serbia
Minister Đurić pointed out that, in a time of rapid change and complex global challenges, Francophonie continues to affirm its role in promoting dialogue and responsibility, stressing that such a humanistic approach is today more necessary than ever.
Speaking about the historical ties between Serbia and the Francophone world, Đurić assessed that they are deep and enduring, recalling that generations of Serbian students educated at French universities brought back to their country the spirit of the Enlightenment and ideas that helped shape modern Serbia. He also noted that, in the most difficult moments of history, Serbian and French soldiers shared the same ideal of freedom.
The head of Serbian diplomacy conveyed that the Republic of Serbia remains committed to continuing, together with its partners, the development of the Francophone space based on trust, creativity, and dialogue.
Referring to the well-known thought of the French writer Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, Đurić emphasized that respect for diversity represents one of the fundamental values of the Francophone community.
At the opening ceremony of the Month of Francophonie, remarks were also delivered by Tamara Vučić, the spouse of the President of the Republic of Serbia, as well as by the Ambassador of Canada to Serbia, Michelle Lee Cameron, in her capacity as Chair of the Group of Francophone Ambassadors in Serbia.
The Group of Francophone Ambassadors in Serbia, established in 2018, brings together more than twenty diplomatic missions and international organizations.
