VISA REGIME

ENTERING AND LEAVING THE COUNTRY
A condition for entry of citizens of Republic of Serbia in any EU member state is to have a biometric travel document, which must be valid for at least three months after the planned date of departure from the territory of the EU member state. Travellers who do not meet these criteria will be returned from the border.
Citizens of Republic of Serbia holding biometric passports do not need a visa for stays of up to 90 days in a six-month period. The visa-free regime does not apply to holders of travel documents issued by the Serbian Ministry of the Interior ― Coordination Directorate. When entering Spain, travellers may be asked by the border authorities about the purpose of their trip (indicate a destination, whether it is a private visit, present the original invitation letter of the person to be visited, or a hotel reservation, return plane ticket, etc.), and to show proof of possession of minimum funds for a short trip in the amount of 855 euros, or for a longer trip 95 euros per day. To find out what the recommended minimum amount to be carried in cash is, go the website of the Embassy of Spain in Belgrade. A credit card and a bank account statement may be presented as proof of the remaining available funds.
Travel health insurance is required. Travellers who bring in or take out cash money in excess of 10,000 euros must declare it.
Travellers over the age of 18 are allowed to carry 200 cigars or 100 cigarillos or 50 tompus or 250 g of twisted tobacco. As for alcohol, only one litre (more than 22% alcohol content) or two litres (less than 22% alcohol content) may be brought into the country.
If travellers bring pets with them, they will have to show a pet passport or a Certificate of Veterinary Inspection, depending on the type of the animal. Owners must confirm (in writing, and in Spanish) that they have owned the animal for at least three months, or from the day of its birth if it is less than three months old. It is also necessary to confirm that the animal has been vaccinated against rabies and has a microchip or a stamped number.

SOCIAL SECURITY AGREEMENT
No social security agreement has been concluded.

USEFUL INFORMATION

HEALTH SITUATION — No special vaccination is required to travel to Spain. If travellers do not have health insurance, they will be admitted to a hospital in case of emergency. However, they will have to pay for all the services. Therefore, it is best to ask a health insurance company or the Embassy of Spain which insurance policies cover Spain. Hospitals are usually maximum 15 minutes away from a settlement. SECURITY SITUATION — Spain shares with the rest of European countries the risk of a terrorist attack. In light of the terrorist attacks which occurred in Barcelona and Cambrils, on 17 and 18 August 2017, Serbian citizens who are staying in or intending to travel to Spain are advised to be careful, especially at airports, train and metro stations, and to monitor information on the security situation in the Spanish media and to comply with the instructions of local authorities and tour operators.
Caution is advised in public places, avoiding places of large gatherings such as central city squares, tourist attractions, shopping malls, near government offices, military facilities, police stations and in public transport. Security is assessed to be at the fourth level of alert (out of five levels of alert), and the Government of the Kingdom of Spain decided to maintain the existing level, and to strengthen security measures.
Travellers should avoid walking along empty streets in poorer areas, always take care of their personal belongings and keep them close. Travellers are advised not to leave mobile phones or wallets on tables in cafes as they may be stolen. The police telephone numbers are 091 and 112. In case of theft or loss of personal documents, it is necessary to call the police on 112 and submit a report in the nearest police station (denuncia).

TRANSPORT — Almost every city in Spain has an airport, and the most important ones are Madrid–Barajas, Barcelona, ​​Valencia, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Palma de Mallorca, etc. The railway is one of the most modern ones in Europe, and trains are fast and comfortable (Madrid―Barcelona 670 km in 2h 30 min). However, traveling by train is much more expensive than traveling by plane.
During a tourist stay in Spain, travellers may operate a motor vehicle with a Serbian driver's licence up to six months. An international driver's licence is recommended, although the authorities also tolerate driving with a new Serbian driver's licence. If a person travels from the Republic of Serbia by car, it is necessary that they have insurance.
There is an agreement with Spain on the mutual recognition and exchange of driving licences, which allows a person with a regulated stay to exchange a Serbian driver's licence for the Spanish one without taking a driving exam.

OTHER INFORMATION — The local currency is the euro. It is possible to use payment cards of banks in Serbia ― Visa, Mastercard.
It is possible to receive tax refund for purchased goods (tax free). More detailed information about this can be found in each individual store. There is always a one-hour time difference between the Canary Islands (-1 hour) and the peninsula and the Balearic Islands (+1 hour).
