Bilateral Political Consultations between Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina

The State Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia, Damjan Jović, and the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Josip Brkić, today led bilateral political consultations between the two ministries in Sarajevo.

The most important bilateral issues were reviewed, along with the potential for further development of cooperation between the two countries.

The interlocutors underscored the importance of connectivity and cooperation in the fields of infrastructure, the economy, investment, energy, and culture.

Views were exchanged on foreign policy priorities and opportunities for cooperation within international and regional organizations and initiatives.

State Secretary Jović expressed gratitude for Bosnia and Herzegovina’s support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Serbia and reiterated the Republic of Serbia’s support for the territorial integrity of Bosnia and Herzegovina. He also briefed his counterpart on the extremely demanding situation faced by Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija.

It was emphasized that full membership in the European Union and the continuation of the closest possible cooperation in the field of European integration are of exceptional importance for improving the quality of life of citizens in both countries.

Mutual readiness was noted to resolve outstanding issues, in particular matters related to missing persons and the definition of the boundary line.

Both sides expressed satisfaction with the confirmation of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s participation in Expo 2027 Belgrade.
