VISA REGIME

ENTERING AND LEAVING THE COUNTRY
The condition for the entry of citizens of the Republic of Serbia to any EU Member State is that they have a travel document issued in the past 10 years and valid for at least three months after the planned date for leaving the territory of an EU Member State. Travellers who do not meet these criteria will be returned from the border. Holders of biometric passports of the Republic of Serbia do not require a visa for a stay of up to 90 days (during a period of 180 days, counting from the date of first entering Schengen). The visa-free regime does not apply to holders of travel documents issued by the Coordination Directorate of the Ministry of Interior of the Republic of Serbia. Foreigners will not be allowed entry if they, among other things, do not have an appropriate travel document and visa, when necessary (e.g. reuniting families), do not have documents evidencing the purpose and length of planned stay, a return ticket, appropriate financial and other means — EUR 38 per day if accommodation is with family or friends (the police does not accept financial guarantees brought forth and presented by relatives) or EUR 50 per day in case of hotel accommodation (bank cards are not accepted as evidence of having appropriate financial means. In case of visiting relatives, it is necessary to have an invitation letter, certified in the commune. Evidence of paid health insurance is also required.

SOCIAL SECURITY AGREEMENT
A Social Security Agreement with Belgium has been concluded (in force since 1 September 2014), and it covers areas of health, pension and disability insurance, insurance in case of workplace injury, professional disease and unemployment, and child allowance. Citizens of the Republic of Serbia holding a certificate of the right to use healthcare protection during a temporary stay abroad, on a bilingual form issued by the health insurance branch with which they are insured in the Republic of Serbia, have the right to health insurance with one of the insurance companies in the Kingdom of Belgium.

SECURITY SITUATION — The threat of terrorism in Belgium is at level two (of four). The threat level remains at the third level only for certain institutions. Protests and mass gatherings are a regular occurrence in Belgium, particularly in Brussels. Although they mainly pass without incidents, they may turn violent. There are pickpockets in Brussels, particularly in public transportation, and in city squares and tourist locales in bigger cities, particularly at night. Personal belongings should not be left visible in vehicles. Citizens of the Republic of Serbia who intend to travel to Belgium are advised further caution and to monitor information on the security situation from police bodies in Belgium, and to avoid places of public gatherings and protests.

TRANSPORT — During a tourist stay, it is possible to drive a motor vehicle using a driver's licence from the Republic of Serbia. The competent bodies of Belgium recommend holding an international driving permit, for translation purposes. A Green Card is not required. Persons regulating temporary or permanent residence in Belgium are obliged to exchange their Serbian driver’s licence for a Belgian driver’s licence within six months. After that time, they will need to retake the driving test in Belgium.
