ENTERING AND LEAVING THE COUNTRY
The Republic of Serbia and AR Egypt have a visa regime. The visa regime applies to holders of an ordinary passport from both states, who have the right to entry, exit, transit and stay within the territory of AR Egypt for up to 90 days.
Citizens of the Republic of Serbia, upon arriving at tourist destinations within the territory of Egypt, have the option of obtaining a tourist visa upon arriving to the airports in Hurghada, Marsa Alam, Sharm El-Sheikh, etc. When arriving at the airport in Cairo, it is recommended to obtain entry visas at the diplomatic and consular representative office of AR Egypt in Belgrade. Based on reciprocity, holders of diplomatic passports do not need an entry visa.
Exceeding the permitted period of stay is punishable by a fee.
On the basis of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Government of the Republic of Serbia and the Government of the Arab Republic of Egypt on the mutual abolition of visas for holders of diplomatic, official and special passports, signed in Belgrade on 20 July 2022, which is being temporarily applied starting from the date of signature, holders of diplomatic and official passports of the two countries may enter and stay in the territory of the other country without a visa for up to 90 days within any 180-day period, counting from the date of first entry.
When bringing money in or out, amounts in excess of USD 10,000 need to be declared to the competent customs bodies.

USEFUL INFORMATION

HEALTH SITUATION – Regardless of the fact that having a health insurance policy is not a condition for obtaining a visa, it is desirable for our citizens to have one, so that later they could charge for the cost of any treatment. AR Egypt obtains its water through the desalination of seawater, but there are natural sources of water. The water is bacteriologically safe, but it is recommended to use bottled water for drinking, while tap water can be used to showering and other needs. All hotels have their own medical service.

SECURITY SITUATION – The security situation is relatively stable. Particular attention is given to tourist destinations, having in mind that AR Egypt is one of the most visited countries in the world. Over 30 million Egyptians are directly or indirectly involved in the tourism industry (30% of the Egyptian population).

TRANSPORT – The international airports where our citizens usually arrive are Cairo, Hurghada, Alexandria, Marsa Alam, Sharm El-Sheikh, Aswan.
Railway transport is well developed, but it is not recommended to be used for tourism.
The road network is extremely well developed. All parts of AR Egypt are connected by highways. Traffic in the largest cities is chaotic, with big traffic jams, particularly in Cairo.
Citizens of the Republic of Serbia with regulated temporary or permanent stay in AR Egypt may replace their Serbian driver’s licence for an Egyptian licence without the obligation of retaking the driver's examination. All forms of traffic offences are punishable, just as in other countries.

OTHER – The local currency is the Egyptian pound. Its value against solid currencies varies depending on the situation on the international market.
Cards issued by Serbian banks: Visa Electron and MasterCard can be used to purchase goods and pay for services, and withdraw money from ATMs. In all cases a fee is calculated for expenses.
Alcohol may only be consumed in places that have a secured permit to serve it.
