The visa is free for stays that are not of a lucrative nature. Citizens of Serbia who can prove their legal stay in the USA, Canada and Japan are exempted from the obligation to have a valid visa, and their goal of travel is tourist, business or transit. Visa is required for the holder of an emergency travel document in transit. |
ENTERING AND LEAVING THE COUNTRY
To enter Mexico, citizens of the Republic of Serbia need a valid passport or travel document, as well as a Mexican visa. The visa is free of charge for a stay that is not of a lucrative nature, and is obtained at the Embassy of Mexico in Belgrade.
Obtaining a visa or tourist pass at the border crossing is not possible.
Visas are not required for persons with a permanent residence permit in Canada, the USA, Japan, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, in any Schengen country, as well as in the member states of the Pacific Alliance (Chile, Colombia, and Peru) or valid multiple visa of Canada, the USA, Japan, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, in any Schengen country. Temporary residence permit in the aforementioned countries (for example, student residence) is not enough for entering Mexico.
In case of any doubts, the Embassy of the Republic of Serbia in Mexico strongly recommends that the citizens of Serbia obtain the Mexican visa at some of the Mexican embassies or its consulates.
For entering Mexico, in addition to having a valid Mexican visa, it is necessary to have all appropriate documentations that show the purpose of travelling (hotel reservations and returning flight ticket), enough finances for staying in Mexico, and giving all the mandatory information asked by the Mexican immigration authorities when entering the state.
If entering Mexico by air or by sea, an official from the National Institute of Migrations (Instituto Nacional de Migración – INM) will make a migration stamp within the passport that will permit a staying with a maximum of 180 days. Within 60 days, a traveler could complete a form called the Multiple Migration Form (Forma Migratoria Múltiple – FMM) which confirms the regular staying in Mexico, that can be found on the following link: https://www.inm.gob.mx/spublic/portal/inmex.html. It can be saved as a document on an electrical device, or be printed.
(Note that on the same “migratory stamp”, one can find the date of permitted stay in Mexico, which matches the day of the returning flight. It’s necessary to pay attention to this).
If entering Mexico by land, it is necessary to fill out the form called the Multiple Migration Form (Forma Migratoria Múltiple – FMM) which is received at the border crossing. This form can be received online 30 days before the travelling, by filling out the online form, available at the following link: https://www.inm.gob.mx/fmme/publico/solicitud/html, which must be printed out.
Please have in mind that the citizens of the Republic of Serbia are required to have a visa for a transit through the international airports in the United Mexican States.
From the obligation to obtain a visa for a transit through the international airports on the territory of the United Mexican States are exempted:
- citizens with a document which proves their permanent residence in Canada, the United States of America, Japan, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland or in any Schengen country, as well as in any member state of the Pacific Alliance.
- citizens with a valid and visa for Canada, the United States of America, Japan, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland or any Schengen country.

SOCIAL SECURITY AGREEMENT
No social security agreement has been concluded.
USEFUL INFORMATION
HEALTH SITUATION – There are no mandatory vaccines or vaccinations. The general sanitary situation is good. Travel health insurance is recommended.
Travellers are advised to drink bottled water, and to avoid eating food at street kiosks.
SECURITY SITUATION – The security situation is complex; the risks of crime are high. Increased caution is necessary.
Since it is a seismic area, there is an increased risk of earthquakes as well as hurricanes. Owing to possible volcanic eruptions, tourist trips (hiking, mountaineering) in the area of the volcano, especially Popocatepetl and Iztaccihuatl, are not recommended.
TRANSPORT – Important airports are located in Mexico City, Cancun, Guadalajara, Monterey, Tijuana.
Important ports are Ensenada, Veracruz, Tampico, Progreso, Coacalco, Topolobampo, Mazatlan, Manzanillo, Salinas Cruz, Vallarta.
The railway network is good, all major cities in the country are connected. It is also possible to travel by train from the USA.
The road network is of good quality, there are a lot of highways, but the cost of tolls is high. For safety reasons, traveling at night or on side roads is not recommended.
A motor vehicle can be driven with a driver's license from the Republic of Serbia if one does not stay longer than 30 days, and it is necessary to have liability insurance.
OTHER INFORMATION – The local currency is the peso (MXN). It is possible to use all international credit cards.
