Political relations

The relations of the Republic of Serbia and the People’s Republic of Bangladesh are based on friendship and cooperation established as part of the Non-Aligned Movement. They are characterised by considerable room for intensifying political dialogue and improving cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
After a long period without the exchange of official bilateral visits between the two countries, at the invitation of the MFA of Bangladesh A. Momen, MFA of the Republic of Serbia N. Selaković visited Bangladesh on 25-26. May 2022, among other things, in the context of marking 50 years of diplomatic relations.
MFA N. Selaković met Bangladesh MFA A. K. Momen on October 13, 2021, on the sidelines of High-level Commemorative Meeting on the occasion of 60th Anniversary of the Non-Aligned Movement, in Belgrade. Before that, MFA N. Selaković met Bangladesh Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Mr. Shahriar Alam in Mexico City, on September 28, 2021, on the side-lines of celebration of 200 years of Mexico’s Independence.
The delegation of Bangladesh at the 141st session of Inter-Parliamentary Union, held on 13—17 October 2019 in Belgrade, was led by the Speaker of the Parliament of PR Bangladesh S. S. Chaudhury, with whom the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia at the time Ivica Dačić held a meeting on 16 October 2019.
During the preceding period the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia at the time Ivica Dačić also met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of PR Bangladesh Dr. A. K. A. Momen on the side-lines of the 74th UN GA in New York in September 2019, as well as on the side-lines of the Ministerial Meeting of the Nоn-Aligned Movement in Baku, on 24 October 2019.

 

Economic relations

The economic cooperation between the Republic of Serbia and the People's Republic of Bangladesh is limited to commodity exchange on a modest scale.

Trade in goods with Bangladesh during 2022 amounted to a total of 143.8 million dollars, of which import was 141.7 million, and export was 2.06 million dollars.

Bilateral agreements

Memorandum of understanding on bilateral consultations between the MFA of Serbia and MFA of Bangladesh, signed on May 25, 2022. during the visit of the Serbian MFA N. Selaković.

Agreement on the abolition of visas for diplomatic and official passports, signed on May 25, 2022. during the visit of the Serbian MFA N. Selaković.

Agreement on Trade and Economic Cooperation between SFRY and PR Bangladesh, signed on 4 April 1972 (The Official Gazette, No. 51 of 27 September 1973);
Protocol on Investment Cooperation between the Government of SFRY and Government of PR Bangladesh, signed on 25 October 1972 (The Official Gazette of SFRY, No. 47/75);
