Political relations

Our bilateral relations and cooperation are future-oriented and focused on strengthening mutual dialogue and trust, preserving peace and stability, developing economic cooperation, enhancing infrastructure connectivity, strengthening people-to-people ties between our countries, pursuing a shared European perspective, and advancing regional integration. The Republic of Serbia maintains well-developed relations with Bosnia and Herzegovina, both with the state as a whole and with its entities – Republika Srpska and the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The Republic of Serbia is a signatory to and guarantor of the Dayton Peace Agreement, which constitutes the backbone of stability in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

A joint session of the Government of the Republic of Serbia and the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina was held in Sarajevo on 4 November 2015. Bosnia and Herzegovina has confirmed its participation in EXPO 2027. Bosnia and Herzegovina has not recognized the unilaterally declared independence of the so-called Kosovo. Relations are to some extent affected by differing interpretations of historical events, particularly those surrounding the conflicts of the 1990s.
