Political relations

On 4 May 2017 the Government of the Republic of Serbia established 25 May as the Day of Friendship with the Peoples of Africa.

Political contacts and relations are underdeveloped.

The first ambassador of SFRY was appointed in 1975 on a non-residential basis from Dakar.

First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs at the time I. Dačić visited The Gambia in December 2017.

A return visit was conducted by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of The Gambia at the time Ousainou Darboe in February 2018.

Meetings on the side-lines of international organisations: former DPM/MFA I. Dačić met the MFA of The Gambia Mamadou Tangara on the side-lines of the 74th UN GA in New York, in September 2019.

 

Economic relations

In 2020, there was no trade. During 2019 exports amounted to 3,000 euros, while there were no imports.

 

Bilateral agreements

Memorandum on political consultations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Gambian Diaspora of the Republic of The Gambia, date of signing and coming into force: 24 February 2018.
