Political relations

Political relations between Serbia and the Philippines are traditionally good and friendly, although insufficiently politically developed.

The last highest-level meeting was held in September 2014, when the presidents at the time T. Nikolić and B. Aquino met in New York on the sidelines of the 69th session of the UN GA.

 

Economic relations

The value of the bilateral trade between Serbia and Philippines in 2022 amounted to 30,134 milion USD.

The Filipino company “IMI”, operating under the global company “Ayala” has opened a factory on 29 September 2018 in Niška Banja for manufacturing fine electronics for cars. The factory, built on 14,000 square metres, will employ approximately 1,250 workers by 2027, including 500 engineers. The opening of the factory was attended by the President of the Republic of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić and Director of IMI Gilles Bernard.

 

Bilateral agreements

  • Agreement on establishing diplomatic relations with the Philippines - Exchange of Notes (signed on 13. 1972)
  • Agreement on cooperation in the field of culture between the Government of SFRY and the Government of the Republic of the Philippines (signed on 14/09/1977.)
  • Trade Agreement between the FEC of the Assembly of SFRY and the Government of the Republic of the Philippines (signed on 7 June 1987; The Official Gazette of SFRY, International Agreements, No. 1/87)
  • Memorandum of agreement on establishing a joint Yugoslav-Filipino commission for trade, economic and scientific and technical cooperation between the FEC of the Assembly of SFRY and the Government of the Republic of the Philippines, signed on 28 March 1988 (The Official Gazette of SFRY, No. 8/91)
