Political Relations
Bilateral relations between the Republic of Serbia and the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka have traditionally been good and friendly, characterised by mutual understanding and a shared interest in enhancing bilateral cooperation in numerous fields.
On 1 November 2021, President of the Republic of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić met with President of Sri Lanka Gotabaya Rajapaksa on the sidelines of the United Nations Climate Change Conference in Glasgow.
In May 2018, Ivica Dačić, then First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia, visited Sri Lanka. This was the first visit to Sri Lanka at that level in two decades.
On 12 October 2026, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Marko Đurić held a telephone conversation with Sri Lanka's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Vijitha Herath.
On the sidelines of the 2022 United Nations General Assembly, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Nikola Selaković held a bilateral meeting with Sri Lanka's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ali Sabry.
On 5 June 2023, Ivica Dačić, First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia, held talks with Ali Sabry, then Minister of Foreign Affairs of Sri Lanka.
Economic Relations
According to data from the Statistical Office of the Republic of Serbia, total merchandise trade with Sri Lanka amounted to EUR 14.3 million in 2025, comprising Serbian exports worth EUR 3.0 million and imports worth EUR 11.3 million.
