Radovanović: Trying to organise a quick return of passengers from Frankfurt

26. Jun 2022.
Consul General of the Republic of Serbia in Frankfurt Branko Radovanović stated today that efforts were being made, in conversation with representatives of Lufthansa, to organise a quick and safe return to Serbia, directly from Frankfurt or through other airport, for Serbian citizens who has been waiting at the airport in Frankfurt since the previous night.

In his statement given to Tanjug, Consul General Radovanović said that the optimal solution in the circumstances was being sought, in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Government of Serbia, and in agreement with the passengers.

Around 100 Serbian medical doctors have been waiting at the Frankfurt International Airport since last night, after they had been unable to board a flight to Belgrade due to a delay of the flight from Lisbon.

“I am at the airport with my colleagues from the consulate, and, together with the organisers and trip leaders, we are trying to find a solution to the situation with the medical doctors, which is particularly difficult due to the strike of the Lufthansa employees and a large number of cancelled flights”, said  Consul General Radovanović.

He stated that Lufthansa had agreed to bear the costs of hotel accommodation for passengers who are on the lists for tomorrow’s flights to Belgrade, and that the Consulate General of Serbia in Frankfurt would continue to monitor the situation until the solution to this problem is found.
