Sofia: International Scientific Conference Friendship in the Culture of Bulgarians and Serbs

Organised by the Faculty of Philology “St. Cyril and Methodius”, the International Scientific Conference “Friendship in the Culture of Bulgarians and Serbs” was held in Veliko Trnovo, marking the start of the commemoration of the 25th anniversary of the introduction of Serbian language as a subject at this University.

The Conference was opened by Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia to Bulgaria Željko Jović and Rector of the University of Veliko Trnovo Professor PhD Hristo Bonjolov.

They emphasised that this conference was a continuation of a series of scientific forums which have been organised by the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Niš and the Faculty of Philology of the University of Veliko Trnovo.

Dean of the Faculty of Philology Professor PhD Cenka Ivanova informed the attendees about the anniversaries relating to the partnership of two universities and two faculties with a history of Serbian language studies at the University of Veliko Trnovo, and about the cooperation between Professors of Bulgarian language, literature and culture at the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Niš.

During this scientific conference, which was attended by a large group of students and professors of the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Niš, the two latest publications from the series of thematic bilingual collection of papers titled “Customs in Serbian and Bulgarian Culture”, 2019 edition, published by the University of Niš, and “The term put (path, way) in the culture of Bulgarians and Serbs”, 2022 edition of the University of Veliko Trnovo, were presented.
