Jovanović at the CEI Interministerial Conference on Labour Migration
The conference was organized by the Ministry of Labour, Employment, Veteran and Social Affairs, with the support of the Central European Initiative (CEI), as part of Serbia’s Chairmanship of this regional organization.
In her address, Jovanović underlined that labour migration represents one of the key challenges of the modern era, requiring a joint and coordinated approach by the countries of the region.
“Labour migration is not only an economic issue, but also one of human rights, security, and sustainable development. Serbia strongly supports the activities of the Central European Initiative aimed at establishing safe, lawful, and sustainable migration flows,” Jovanović emphasized.
She further stressed that one of the priorities of the Republic of Serbia is to strengthen institutional capacities and regional cooperation with a view to developing a labour market that ensures decent work and equal opportunities for all.
On behalf of the Central European Initiative, the gathering was welcomed by Deputy Secretary General Zsuzsanna Király.
During the first day of the conference, representatives of the CEI Member States and international organizations exchanged experiences and proposals in the areas of improving the legal framework, supporting labour mobility, and protecting the rights of migrant workers.
