LECTURE FOR STUDENTS OF THE FACULTY OF SECURITY, UNIVERSITY OF BELGRADE AT THE DIPLOMATIC ACADEMY

After the introductory speech of the head of the Diplomatic Academy, Amb. Marina Jovicevic, who greeted the guests and introduced the lecturers, was addressed by Vesna Filipovic-Nikolic, Deputy Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Igor Kuzelka, Head of the Department for Common Security and Defense Policy and Security Challenges.

Vesna Filipović-Nikolić acquainted the attendees with the organizational structure and the way of functioning of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, including the DKP network and the competencies of each sector individually. From the point of view of a career diplomat, she presented to the students the complexity of the diplomatic profession, with an emphasis on multilateralism, cooperation with international organizations in practice, and the importance of consular affairs in the service of our citizens abroad.

During his presentation, Igor Kuzelka presented the competencies of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the field of security policy, as well as the structure of the Sector for Security Policy as a whole. He spoke about activities within the EU's common security and defense policy, Serbia's cooperation with NATO through the Partnership for Peace, IPAP and other programs, Serbia's participation in EU peacekeeping missions and operations, arms control, and global security challenges.

After the lecture, students had the opportunity to ask questions and discuss with the lecturers.

Visits of students of the Faculty of Security to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs are traditionally realized in cooperation with the Diplomatic Academy within the subject "Defense Diplomacy", which students listen to in the third year of basic academic studies.
