Secretary General Kozarev Meets with the Ambassador of Türkiye

The Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia, Dušan Kozarev, met today with the Ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye in Belgrade, H.E. İlhan Saygılı, with whom he discussed the most important aspects of bilateral relations between Serbia and Türkiye, the situation in the Western Balkans, as well as key international issues.

Special attention was devoted to the recently held inaugural meeting of the Balkan Peace Platform in Istanbul, attended by Minister of Foreign Affairs Marko Đurić. The interlocutors agreed that the meeting had been extremely useful, as it provided an opportunity to consider a wide range of issues of immense importance for the future of the region.

Kozarev emphasized that Serbia supports every initiative that contributes to strengthening cooperation in the Balkans, underlining that our country remains committed and oriented toward the region, particularly its economic connectivity.

Ambassador Saygılı conveyed that Türkiye sees the continuation of cooperation through the Balkan Peace Platform as a valuable step toward regional stabilization, in which Serbia plays a key role.

The meeting also addressed the dynamics of high-level mutual visits, as well as cooperation in areas of common interest.

Secretary General Kozarev and Ambassador Saygılı expressed satisfaction with the growth of bilateral trade, noting the need for continued dedicated efforts to further advance ties in numerous fields, with particular emphasis on the information technology sector.

Kozarev conveyed that Serbia is facing attempts at destabilization, stressing the necessity of preserving stability and security.

Ambassador Saygılı underlined that Türkiye gives its wholehearted support to the authorities of Serbia in implementing the necessary steps to safeguard peace and stability.

The interlocutors also discussed current developments in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the possibilities for overcoming challenges, and the search for acceptable solutions.
