First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivica Dačić and Fabian Salvioli

First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Ivica Dačić received Fabian Salvioli, a Special Rapporteur of the United Nations Human Rights Council for the promotion of truth, justice, reparations and guarantees of non-repetition.

Special Rapporteur Fabian Salvioli was staying on the official visit to the Republic of Serbia from 22 November to 2 December 2022 in order to learn of the measures that had been taken at the level of the government and society to establish the truth about the facts that led to human rights violations during conflicts in the Region in the 1990s, including the establishment of responsibility, reparations for victims, the process of memorialisation and guarantees of non-repetition.

Expressing his support for the activities and mandate of the Special Rapporteur Fabian Salvioli and following upon the declared readiness of the Republic of Serbia to cooperate closely with all the mechanisms of the special procedures of the United Nations Human Rights Council, the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Ivica Dačić indicated that our common interest was to contribute to a better mutual understanding and rule of justice, as an important part of the reconciliation process in the Region that was still facing the consequences of the past conflicts.

First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Ivica Dačić highlighted the significance of treating all victims in the same and fair way. He expressed hope that the report on the visit to our country, which would be presented by the Special Rapporteur Fabian Salvioli at the United Nations Human Rights Council would contribute to resolving the open issues, and add to the reconciliation and better understanding among all peoples in the Region.
