Minister Dačić with the General Secretary of the Central European Initiative Roberto Antonione

First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia, Ivica Dačić, met in Belgrade on February 24, 2023 with the Secretary General of the Central European Initiative, Roberto Antonione.

During the meeting, it was pointed out that the Republic of Serbia, as the successor of one of the four founders of the Central European Initiative, attaches great importance to this initiative.

“The Republic of Serbia pays special attention to the improvement of regional cooperation, especially through participation in regional initiatives, which directly contributes to the building of mutual trust, the process of reconciliation, and encourages overall development on our way to full EU membership. We highly appreciate the personal commitment and contribution by the General Secretary Antonione and his team in deepening cooperation between CEI member countries and strengthening the organization’s visibility” Dačić said.

The General Secretary of the Central European Initiative Antonione thanked for the active participation of the Republic of Serbia and of the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs in the CEI activities, which contributes to its efficiency and brings new energy and visibility to its work.

He pointed out that cooperation with the EU and cooperation in the context of European integration are key factors of the CEI political action and goals. He added that the development of relations with the EU institutions is an absolute priority, and that CEI will continue to provide full support to member countries, including the Republic of Serbia on its way to the EU.
